Perdita Huston was an author and journalist whose 1978 and 1979 books, From The Village and Third World Women Speak Out greatly influenced the international aid world. She dedicated her life to giving a voice to women in developing nations. After she died, the Perdita Huston Human Rights Award was set up to honor other women advocating for women's rights in the third world.
