Brad Pitt is an Oscar-nominated American actor and film producer who was chosen as one of Time Magazine's "100 Most Influential People in the World" in 2007, and was twice People Magazine's choice for the "Sexiest Man Alive." His many major Hollywood films include, A River Runs Through It, Interview with the Vampire, Legends of the Fall, Twelve Monkeys, Ocean's Eleven, Troy, Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Babel. Offscreen his life has always been a focus for media attention, particularly his romantic involvements with Hollywood superstar actresses Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Anniston and Angelina Jolie. Recognizing the fact that the cameras will follow them wherever they go, Brad and Angelina (dubbed 'Brangelina' by the tabloids) have repeatedly found ways to use their limelight to promote causes for a better world. When their daughter Shiloh was born, they sold the first pictures to People Magazine for several million dollars, with all of the money going to charity causes. Before his relationship with Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt was inspired by Bono's work to help end AIDS and poverty in Africa and made a highly publicized trip to Africa with the Make Poverty History Campaign in 2004 to raise awareness about this cause. Since then he and Angelina Jolie have made several additional trips to increase public concern about the devastation that AIDS and poverty are causing on that continent. Together they have created the Jolie/Pitt Foundation to assist humanitarian causes around the world by providing funds to organizations like the United Nations, Global Action for Children and Doctors Without Borders. With his Ocean's Eleven co-stars, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle and Jerry Weintraub, Brad Pitt helped launch Not On Our Watch, an organization that is helping to focus global attention and resources to places like Darfur, to prevent future mass atrocities of genocide. In 2005, Brad Pitt narrated a PBS documentary called Rx For Survival - The Heroes about people who are helping to make a difference by saving lives around the world. Newsweek Magazine named Brad Pitt as one of “15 People Who Make America Great” for his efforts to help bring attention to crises in Africa.
