Boutros Boutros-Ghali
(1922-)

Egyptian Diplomat, 6th UN Secretary-General

birthdate: November 14
birthplace:
Cairo, Egypt

Boutros Boutros-Ghali was the sixth Secretary General of the United Nations and the only Secretary General not appointed to a second term. His election to a second term was blocked by the United States, largely because he tried to take a stand for the United Nations so that it served what was best for all nations, not just what the United States and multi-national corporations wanted the UN to do.
