Lester Brown has been called “the guru of the environmental movement” and "one of the world's most influential thinkers." In 1974 he founded the Worldwatch Institute, the first reserach instutue that was devoted to analyzing global environmental issues. In 2001, he started a new venture, the Earth Policy Institute, dedicated to helping provide a road map for achieving an environmentally sustainable economy. Lester Brown has written or co-written over 50 books about 'better world issues' including environmental isssues, population, ending hunger and sustainability.
