Paul
Ehrlich's 1968 book, The Population Bomb, sounded an urgent
alarm, warning that Earth's resources would soon not be able to
support the growing human population. Since then, Paul Ehrlich
and his wife Anne, have continued to be leading voices for numerous
environmental issues in addition to the effects of overpopulation
on the environment, including habitat and biodiversity conservation,
and the dangers of the proliferation of nuclear weapons. The husband
and wife ecological team have received numerous honors for their
dedication, including the United Nations' Sasakawa Environmental
Prize, the Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement, the John
Muir Award, World Ecology Award and the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation's
Peace Leadership Award.
